Wild Thing Inspired Animation at Reinwood Juniors

Filming Max and the boat with iStopmotion on the iPad
Recently I had the pleasure of working with a wonderful Y3 class at Reinwood Junior School in Huddersfield for four days, making artwork in response to one of my all time favorite picture books, Where the Wild Things Are. The children made a series of amazing collaborative drawings using a range of drawing techniques, they used iPads to create digital drawings and storyboards,  and eventually created a short animated piece which was captured and edited using only an iPad and a selection of fantastic apps.

Crowlees Photography Project - Day 1

Today was the first day of the Photography Project at Crowlees J&I School, Mirfield as part of the Kirklees Arts4All Scheme. The day began with a brief introduction and then all 60 Y5 children took part in an 'extended drawing' activity where they explored "beyond the frame" of photographs that had been captured throughout their school. They produced some amazing drawings, some of which are shared below:

For the rest of the day I was working with small groups of children to explore the school through creative photography using mobile devices such as iPod Touchs, iPhones and iPads, capturing intriguing images from all kinds of angles.

Children also began processing their images through a variety of apps.

Throughout the week the children are looking to create a library of images that will feature in a book, along with drawings and creative writing that they produce, inspired by their own photography. They have already captured lots of images and have ideas for many more! YR

Scholes Photography Project - Day 3

The Y5 children at Scholes J&I School have impressed me once again with their endless enthusiasm towards photography and mobile devices. We have spent another day exploring the school from unusual and interesting angles and it has been such a beautiful day we were lucky enough to be able to take photographs outside. The children have been a pleasure to work with and have produced lots more fantastic images. It is the last day tomorrow which will see us processing the final designs for the montage print. In the meantime, here are some images from today...
