Scholes Photography Project: Montage Print Complete!

The Photographic Montage Print comprising of images captured and processed by Year 5 children at Scholes J&I School is now complete. It has been printed using a giclée archival printing process and has been framed and is now hanging proudly in the school. Well done everyone - it looks great!

Scholes Photography Project - Day 4

I have just finished the last day of delivery for the photography project at Scholes J&I School. This final day saw the children processing images on iPads and iPod Touchs, ready for their Montage Print. They also worked in Photoshop on Apple iMacs creating composite images from the hundreds of pictures they captured throughout the project. The children have been amazing, a real joy to work with and their Montage is looking fabulous. I will upload it very soon once it is ready for print. Scholes Photography Project - Day 3

The Y5 children at Scholes J&I School have impressed me once again with their endless enthusiasm towards photography and mobile devices. We have spent another day exploring the school from unusual and interesting angles and it has been such a beautiful day we were lucky enough to be able to take photographs outside. The children have been a pleasure to work with and have produced lots more fantastic images. It is the last day tomorrow which will see us processing the final designs for the montage print. Scholes Photography Project - Day 2

I have just had another wonderful day at Scholes J&I School working with Y5 pupils on a photography project. Today the children have been using iPods and iPads to explore the school from almost every angle imaginable! 

Children have been laying on the floor, climbing on apparatus, bending down, stretching up, standing on chairs and peering around corners in order to get interesting, dynamic and unusual shots. 

The children have very quickly developed an understanding of what makes a 'good image', have taken the time to consider the composition and framing of their shots and they have therefore captured some amazing images. They have also learnt how to use a variety of apps to help enhance their images. 

So far the children have begun to develop a very unique library of images and I am looking forward to working with them next week on the final montage which will feature a selection of their images. 

 A lot of the children I am working with are excited about the extent to which they can now use their iPods and iPads creatively, which they had not realised before the project.  I am delighted that they are keen to continue their photography work beyond the project and I am sure they will continue to produce great images.

Scholes Photography Project - Day 1

I have had a wonderful day at Scholes Junior and Infant School today. It was the first day of a four day photography project where I am working with Year 5 pupils to explore their school through creative photography, mainly through the use of mobile devices such as iPhones, iPod Touch's and iPad's. Over the four days the children are looking to create a library of intriguing images, captured throughout the school which will feature in a Photographic Montage Print to be framed and displayed in the school after the project.

The children have been fantastic. Working in pairs and small groups they searched the school for interesting images, then processed them using a range of apps. Throughout the day the children printed their images and hung them on string across the ICT suite so that they could see how their work was progressing. YR
